BCM Trust Groups

What is a Trust Group?
A BCM Trust Group consists of 3 people of the same sex who encourage each other's spiritual growth through fellowship, prayer, and accountability. The group members will help one another examine all areas of their lives and pursue Biblical obedience and purity in those areas. Members of a Trust Group will support, encourage, exhort, admonish, rebuke, and challenge one another in an attitude driven by love and a commitment to Christ and each other.

"As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another."

- Proverbs 27:17

Group Expectations
As part of a Trust Group, all members should note the certain non-negotiables that will help to ensure the potential for personal spiritual growth. All members of a Trust Group should:
- Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Be an active part of an Evangelical church
- Pursue a growing relationship with Christ through daily time spent in studying Scripture, prayer, etc. (a desire to grow in the spiritual disciplines)
- Pursue opportunities to grow in maturity and develop Godly character
- Commit to make Trust Group meeting times a weekly priority
- Commit to keep all discussions within the group confidential
- Pursue the building of closer spiritual relationships with other group members centered on Scriptural teachings of encouragement and Biblical rebuke
- Pursue outreach opportunities that involve discipleship, service, evangelism, and the building of relationships

Spiritual Disciplines
A crucial goal of a Trust Group is to encourage each member in developing a balanced spiritual life that integrates the study, reading, and memorization of Scripture, prayer, fellowship with believers, and reaching out to non-believers. Godliness is the goal of spiritual disciplines, and it is the desire of Christ that each of His disciples grow in these disciplines. They are essential in bringing about the purposes of the individual and collective ministries to which the Lord calls each of us.

Group Dynamics
The group will focus on keeping each member moving toward Christ in each of these disciplines, holding no area outside the scrutiny of the group. One of the members will serve as a facilitator by ensuring that the group meets weekly, sending at least one group member to the Trust Group Focus Meetings, and keeping the group focused on its purpose. Discussion will most likely be guided by qeustions the members ask each other. The group should not rely on the facilitator to ask questions or dominate discussion. Rather, as each member is equally accountable to the others in the group, everyone must be intentional in keeping the group moving forward in their relationships with each other and with Christ. Members should ask introductory questions that will build relationships within the group as well as more in-depth questions that ensure true accountability and focus on each member's relationship and daily walk with Christ.

"Though one may be overpowered,
Two can defend themselves and
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

- Ecclesiastes 4:12
